I’ve been feeling a bit unsatisfied with myself the past couple of weeks. Being with family can be fun but it can also bring up a lot of criticism. As usual, self-doubt creeps in and I end up feeling like I haven’t achieved anything. So this year I’ve decided to write down my reflections on 2017 to see a clearer picture of what I have achieved.
2017 started quietly: teaching one Pregnancy Yoga class per week and occasionally covering classes. After completing the Postnatal Teacher Training with Nadia Narain in March and having done the Baby Yoga Training at Birthlight just a few months earlier, I started a Mum & Baby Yoga class at the beginning of April.
For my birthday I decided to sign up for the Doula course with Nurturing Birth, which was to start in September.
Just before I went away for the summer I was offered to teach a Pregnancy Yoga class and a Mum & Baby Yoga class at London Fields Yoga. I began teaching these classes at the end of August.
In September I did the Doula course and right after I began to set up that part of my business. A month after finishing the course I got my first client and just a few weeks after, my second client. Before going away for Christmas I had the honour to start working with both of my clients (postnatally and prenatally), and I had another interview.
I covered a bunch of yoga classes throughout the fall and in November I wrote an article on Danish parenting and education for Juno magazine that will be published in their February issue.
It might not seem like much, but all in all and considering I have a toddler to take care of, I think I achieved quite a lot the past year. Now it’s time to write down my resolutions, dreams and projects for 2018 and to start afresh and confident. If you feel like you didn’t achieve much, write down your year reflections. You might be surprised by how much you actually got done. Happy New Year!!!
